The Kaleido pump is the prettiest automated insulin deilvery (AID) pump I have ever seen! I spoke with Nina Joakim (aka @DiaBadass_Nina on social), who has been using Kaleido for the past three months. She shares her journey of 17 years with Medtronic pumps, her experiences with other AID systems, and why she ultimately chose Kaleido. CGM's are officially available over-the-counter in the US and I dive into everything you need to know. We discuss Dexcom's Stelo, meant for people with pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes not using insulin, and Abbott's Lingo, designed for people without diabetes. We dive into how these biosensors work and the pros and cons of the information and feedback provided. We also address some bigger issues like the role of health insurance, what this means for people who still don't have access to CGMs, and the risks for people who don't understand what the glucose information means.
